The Dance Lab NC

The LAB originally started in NYC. It united many dance communities in one social in an effort to strengthen the fundamental skills of great social dancing – connection, care for your partner and understanding the basic elements of lead and follow.

Now, we invite you to the next level, The Dance Lab NC! We intend to unite people and genres while providing a fun night of dancing that helps all of us grow as dancers. We’ll give each dancer a sneak peak into other genres to see the similarities that bridge our dances.

How will The Dance Lab improve your social dance skills? Simple, we remove expectation! We play music that you won’t hear at your typical blues, bachata, zouk, tango or swing social, and challenge you to create a fun, connected dance using the pure skills of lead and follow.

THE MISSION

To build community and foster the growth of fun, skilled, connected social dancers who seek to prioritize the enjoyment of the comprehensive partner dance experience through mindfulness, skill and creativity.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

6PM-7PM Dinner Together
Bring your own dinner (the venue allows outside food) and join us for loosely guided chats to meet new people and build community

7PM-7:45PM
Lessons from various genres to broaden the spectrum of who we can dance with.

Playful exercises to help bring your lead and follow skills to the next level!

7:45PM – 10PM:
Social Dancing with (optional) super fun LAB CHALLENGES to guide exploration of improving lead and follow during the social dance time.
