A special Thursday TCD dance will bring in the New Year on Dec. 31 at the Carrboro Century Center. From 8 p.m. to midnight, a 4-piece contra dance band, the West Virginia-based Contrarians, will deliver hot dance music and dazzling melody — including some great original tunes — along with grooves on fiddles, mandolin, saxophone, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, and more. Calling will be Brian Hamshar from Charlottesville, Va.
