Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival

Spring and Fall music and dance festival in Chatham County with multiple bands and genres. There are a few bands geared to partner dancing and there are several dance workshops in swing, salsa, and zydeco in the Dance Tent. Donna and the Buffalo play Zydeco. Onyx club boys do gypsy jazz swing. There is an ecstatic dance dancewave and a contact improvisation workshop. Other bands include string bands, international, Americana, jazz and many varieties. For those who are hopeless without GPS and find themselves panicked because you can’t get a cell signal to map your way home late at night on the country roads. Just remember “RRLRL” which for a dance follow is a hop on the right foot and a triple step. Right out of the lot, right onto Emerson Cook (just remember Einstein’s E=MC squared, 2 O’s), left at end, right onto Hwy 87, and depending upon your destination left onto 64E.
