ABOUT THEM:
Gustavo Martins
is a Brazilian dance instructor with 18 years of experience. He started dancing at Jaime Aroxa’s Dance School, one of the most respected dance studios in Rio de Janeiro / Brazil. After completing his formation Gustavo taught at Jaime Aroxa’s studio in Rio de Janeiro for 16 years. He was an instructor at some major events like the First Forró in Rio congress, and taught workshops throughout Brazil, USA and Portugal. As a dancer, Gustavo was part of Jaime Aroxa Dance Company, Fabiano & Juliana Dance Company, and Lidio Freitas Dance Company, which included several performances such as at theater, Carnival Parade in Rio, Salon Canning Milonga in Buenos Aires, and others. In 2014, he founded a Samba de Gafieira yearly workshop in Rio de Janeiro called Nerds do Samba, and in 2019 he created Zoukville, a brand that is helping to build the Nashville Brazilian Zouk community. Since July of 2021 he moved to Miami and joined Zouk United where he is sharing his passion for all Brazilian dances, but in special for Brazilian Zouk, and helping to build a stronger scene in Miami.

Ayane Azevedo
Original From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ayane studied at early age Classical Ballet Jazz, modern dance and contemporary.
As a young adult she started learning the Brazilian partner dances which include samba de gafieira, forró, bolero, soltinho e zouk. She fell in love with the Brazilian partner dances and studied with most of the big names of these dances, such as Ramalhos, Jaime Aroxa, Val & Vanessa and Renata Peçanha, Paulo and Luiza. Currently based in Atlanta Ayane had the opportunity of traveling to teach at events in various cities of the U.S. in collab with other instructors, and performed at events, festivals and the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Brazil.
Together since summer of 2022, Gustavo and Ayane are doing a partnership, teaching and competing at events throughout the U.S.. As partners they won the first Brazilian Zouk World Championship in two divisions.(Teams and Originals), after that separately they got second place at Portugal Zouk Festival JnJ (Ayane) and Second place at Elevetion Zouk festival JnJ( Gustavo).
They are super excited about sharing their technicque and love for this dance and culture!
