2nd, 4th, and 5th Friday TCD Contra Dance 2nd at Carrboro Century Center, 4th & 5th at Reality Center, Durham. Lesson 7:30  PM, Dance 8P. Live bands and caller listed on website.  $10/8 members www.TCDancers.org A rousing duo from Asheville will play at the TCD contra dance Friday, Oct. 9 at Carrboro Century Center. Steamshovel is Roger Gold (guitar, foot drum) and David White (fiddle and banjo). Gold provides an exciting combination of intricate melodies, powerful rhythms and big bass sounds. White’s selections of unique old-time tunes – from driving to smoothly flowing – as well as several tunes he has created for banjo and fiddle present a wide range of music for dancing.

Calling the dances will be Jonathan Thielen, well-known as a musician and caller on the contra dance circuit.
