Durham Dance Wave and Living Arts are cosponsoring thisĀ free form improvisational dance. Patterned on the Ecstatic Dance form this is an uninterrupted 90 minutes of unstructured dancing often as an individual though people may elect to dance as a couple or group. Socializing is discouraged during the dance. Ecstatic Dance was a form developed by Gabrielle Roth who referred to it as the 5 Rhythms. The dance starts with a meditative circle and starts with very slow meditative music which then builds in intensity to wild energetic music and then slows down to stillness and a sharing circle at the end. Recommended donation of $7-10. Website .
